Built by a former au pair, since 2015
It all started with a dream
and an incredible au pair experience !
Aupairtrip started in Chicago when I, Celine, an au pair from France, launched the Instagram account @aupairtrip.
What began as a meme-based page quickly became a real community helping au pairs connect, make friends and travel together.
Later, Alexis joined the adventure, and together, we turned this growing community into a dedicated platform for young people abroad.
“People often tell me how lucky I was to be an au pair, and they’re right : it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. But what they don’t always see are the difficult moments behind the photos. Only 3 months after arriving in the US, I had to go through a rematch. I felt completely lost. I was far from my family trying to stay positive every day, yet I often cried alone in my room. I didn’t receive the support I thought I would, and wished there had been someone who simply understood what I was going through.
That’s why I created Aupairtrip, not just to help people travel, but to create the community I desperately needed back then. Because no au pair should ever have to feel alone during one of the biggest adventures of their life.”

Building something to help others.
“I spent a year in the US as an exchange student, staying with a host family. Although it was one of the best experiences of my life, I also remember the moments when I felt lonely and far from home. I know how much a simple conversation or a meaningful friendship can change everything. Especially with someone who understands what you’re going through.
That’s why building a community I wish I’d had, like Aupairtrip, felt so important to me.
When she told me she wanted to take Aupairtrip from a community-based Instagram, doing it all by hand, to an actual digital business, designing the app, all the features, and go global, I knew she was on the right path. Making the au pair program younger and safer, while having a positive impact on thousands of young women and men that want to discover the world, is what we’re aiming for. In the end, we just wanted to create a platform that helps au pairs make the most of an experience that will shape the rest of their lives, just like it shaped ours. That’s the vision !” — Alexis
